Eurovision 2024: Switzerland's Nemo Wins with 'The'
Grand Final Results
After a captivating evening of performances, Switzerland's Nemo emerged triumphant at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, held in Malmö, Sweden. With their powerful and poignant song "The," Nemo captured the hearts of voters, securing the victory for Switzerland.
Sweden's Strong Showing
Sweden, the host country, also had a strong showing in the competition. Loreen, who won Eurovision in 2013, returned to the stage to perform her song "Tattoo." Despite a strong performance, Sweden ultimately placed third.
Qualification for the Grand Final
In addition to the automatic qualifiers (the "Big Five" countries of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom), as well as last year's winner Sweden, the top 10 entries from the two semi-finals advanced to the Grand Final. These included countries such as Norway, Netherlands, and Ukraine.
Malmö's Hosting Success
This marked the third time that Malmö has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest. The city of 360,000 people on Sweden's southwest coast has proven to be a welcoming and vibrant host for the competition.
